A Personal Psalm

Author: Robert Curtis

Where do you turn for personal strength and a renewal of your energies and commitments on a daily basis? Being in the world is a tough job and a challenge to our capabilities. Do we lean upon the arm of our God for our support? Do we know who He is, and more importantly, do we know that He knows who we are? A friend challenged me the other day to ponder this fact, and to write my own personal psalm. This exercise has given me strength, and I believe it can strengthen you, too. Go to the book of Psalms. Read through a few, such as Psalm 23 and Psalm 46. Then ponder what you would write. What you would say. This is my Psalm:

God is my strength and my refuge Therefore, why should I fear? Though the challenges of the world May rage and the Elements be troubled The Lord of Hosts is ever with me; Life is a series of decisions And I am free to choose my paths; I know I will be blessed As I choose the paths of Goodness and mercy. The Lord, the Lord God of Heaven and Earth will guide me; He will guide me and lead me Beside still waters and upon The rising paths of righteousness. Come, see what the Lord has done And what He will yet do For he has said, Be still, and know that I am God. The Lord of Hosts is ever with me; The God of Jacob is my Strength and my refuge.

Now, write one for you. Or you may even use mine. May it also give you strength, as it has given me.
